Larger Capacity ECEED has eliminated the elevator machine room by housing the elevator traction machine in the pit and the controller in the hoistway. The traction machine employs a slim gearless machine incorporating a permanent magnet (PM) synchronous motor. For a better fit between the hoistway wall and the car, the controller has been made slimmer and more compact.

Elimination of Rooftop Machine Room & Increased Useable Area in Buildings
By not requiring a machine room on the rooftop, Larger Capacity ECEED makes it possible to design a building one floor higher without changing the building's height. As a result, the building's effective area is increased and the rooftop can be used for offices, shops and apartments.
Elimination of a Machine Room from an Intermediate Floor Creates Flexible Design
An elevator machine room located in an intermediate floor of a high-rise building used to block a passage. Eliminating the machine room in this case will increase the floor's usable space, thus further improving design freedom in high-rise structures.
Meeting the Requirements for Large Elevators
In order to meet the needs of expanding medical care facilities and facilities for senior citizens and the disabled, Larger Capacity ECEED will now meet the 1800 kg. capacity of larger elevators.
Reduction of Power Supply Equipment & Power Consumption
Employment of highly energy efficient PM type gearless traction machine substantially reduces the need for power supply equipment and power consumption in comparison with conventional hydraulic and roped elevators.
