Structure of Plasmacluster Ion Generating System, "IONFUL"

With the Plasmacluster Ion generator incorporated in the elevator car's ventilation system installed on top of the elevator car, "IONFUL" is designed to send Plasmacluster ions into the elevator car through the air vent. "IONFUL" has a control system that generates Plasmacluster ions in response to energy saving functions and elevator movements.

* To maintain a high ion concentration level in the elevator cab, the Plasmacluster Ion generating unit should be replaced after about 40,000 hours of continuous operation (about 4.5 years when it is in continuous operation, 24 hours a day).

Control System of Ventilation System

Considering energy-saving aspects, the ventilation control system is designed to economically and efficiently regulate the amount of Plasmacluster ions generated according to elevator movements, operational situation, and other control parameters.
To ensure energy conservation during normal elevator operations, the ventilation system is only activated when a passenger is in the car, and the system is shut down after a predetermined period of time when there is no passenger in the car.
In other situations, such as in the winter time, the operation mode of the ventilation system can be changed to clean the air when there is no passenger in the car and stop the system when a passenger is in the car.

The measurement results of Plasmacluster ion concentrations taken at 36 points in the elevator car, which included three points in the car depth direction; three points in the car width direction; and four points at different heights (on the floor, 500 mm, 1,000 mm and 1,500 mm above the floor), verified that the total ion concentration is at such a level that the effectiveness can be expected throughout the elevator car.
